Today, a star was born, and that star is me.

So today is my birthday. Without giving away too many details, let’s just say I was born in the 1900s!
It is now 2026 and it feels like just yesterday I was dreaming about being an adult, exploring the world, and taking in all the cultures and experiences this planet has to offer. I’ve grown a lot and learned even more. Some lessons came through experience and others in the classroom, whether from an article, a podcast, or a meaningful conversation.
I’ve traveled a bit too, both on planes and through deeper mental journeys. Both have opened my mind and heart to different perspectives. Just yesterday, I completed my longest jog in years on the first try. I’m fitter and healthier than I’ve been in a long time, all because of some tough news I received at the turn of the year.
After that news, I chose to make a change. Instead of sinking into a depression, I found motivation and optimism. It led me to something that has always eluded me: discipline.
On my birthday, I want to thank everyone who has played a role in my life. No role is small. You impacted me in a way that caused a change, and I am better today because I met you. Something you said or did shifted my path and I appreciate you for it.
I love you, even if I don't always say it. Whether I’m arguing, getting loud, laughing, or roasting you, being my true authentic self and being honest about how I feel is how I let you know that you matter. If I’m comfortable enough to be real with you, it’s because I value you deeply.
My birthday wish is simply one of gratitude. I want to say thank you and let you know you've made an impact while I have the chance to say it. I want to celebrate my friends and my family.
Happy birthday to me, but big ups to each and every one of you I call a friend. I pray that the best of your todays will be the worst of your tomorrows.
